Dearest "Miss Kentucky 1944",
I recieved your letter Saturday, but surely you don't expect me to stay in over the week-end to write letters, do you? I hope not. Saturday night I skated at heffeino's until 11:00 and believe it or not, I then came home and went to bed. (Of course, my not having bus fare to go downtown had nothing to do with it). Sunday, I accepted a dinner engagement at a girls' house near Pebbles' Corner. I had a very nice time.

By the way, I told REf "Maiderswoon" Merselis that you wouldn't be bowling Sunday, so he didn't go down to Gibson's St almost broke his heart, don't you know. That guard duty was really rough and cold, last Sunday. It was really the longest four hours in history. I didn't know it, but I was supposed to go at 6:00 instead of eight, but one of my buddies had taken if for me, so I managed to get out of it. Wal, ma'an, even' as how time's a creeepin' up on me, I'll have to be a-closin' this " " letter sgar report for now. Write back at me soon abd I'll be abserin' it, every little chance I get
Y'all's very truly,
Bill
