Dear Margy,
Recieved your letter Sunday & was swell to hear from you. Sound as though you're still on the basll. you want to watch out for those F.Q wolves though! Especially at Ft. Thomeas. They'll get in your hair! I'm doing a bit of "goldbricking" this afternoon. The C.O. webt out on the firing range so we 're all alone. The 1st Sgt is on furlough, so I'm sort of taking his place while he's gone. I'm the only guy who knows how to make out the reports and stuff. Most of them are made up in the morning, so the afternoon is fairly free. Guess I should dash up to headquarters & see if anything is cooking, but what's the use in asking for trouble. It comes without cooking

Well last week I was transfered but the dam thing was stopped & the orders reseeded. So here I am - yet , i didn't want to leave the outfit anyway. It's a beautiful day here, just like May back there. I'd like very much to be out playing golf today. Guess I'll have to want for my furlough to do that though. There isn't much new around here. I am out of gasoline stamps so I haven't been to anywhere except Brownswood. And that's nothing to talk about. The only excitement around here was when the 13th Armored division came back for maneuvers & also Frankie Masters & band were here on the post. Dam good! I gotta dash up to HQ, so I'll close for now. Tell your folks "Hi" for me & be good & stay sober!
You Cousin
Joe
