Hello Margie,
Recieved your last letter a heck of a long time ago, but seems I just couldn't get around to answering it. I was pretty busy there for a while and didn't do much writing at all, and then as soon as I got the chance, I went home on furlough. Have been back almost a week now. So at least I have a half-way excuse for not writing sooner. My little gal went home with me so I didn't have a lot of time to wite while there. We were too busy out seeing the down and all the relatives in town. Nope, I didn't get married! I wanted her to meet the folks first, and I also wanted to see what Mother thought about her. Everyone liked her very much, especially Mother, so everything is hunky-dory. We drove through, and on the way we had 5 blow-outs and three tires go flat! Quite a record, huh? Managed to get back without the least bit of trouble though. Thank goodness for that. The weather at home was pretty wet. It rained every single day we were home, so it spoiled a lot of our plans. We intended to play a lot of golf and tennis, and also go horseback riding but we were cheated out of it. About all we got to do was bowl and play 9 holes of golf. But at least it was a rest and a change of scenery, and it was home. So we didn't kick a bit. Wanted to try and get down to see you and your folks, but you know how the gasoline problem is. And then too, the weather was so bad that we never get out of town. WOuld have liked for you to meet my little gal, but guess it'll have to wait until later, There'll come a day though. You said you had a cold in your last letter. Sure hope your're a;; over it by this time and feeling right in the pink again. I've been feeling wonderful and so have the folks at home. The kid brother is doing fine too. He sent home a bunch of souveneirs, including a big heavy German flying suit. It really is a dilly. Think it weighs about as much as I do.
