June 8th 1945

Dear Nelli,
Well we are in, and what do you think, a whole hour early. We are having a damn good thunder shower. It is raining like the devil but everyone is something. We had a night problem and it was quite interesting, cooler and a lot better than it has been in the hotsan. Tomorrow night ot Sunday I am going to read all your better and answer the question, then throw them away. I will also ask
you to send some things if you have sent them, just forget it. Take Jackie where ever you think best. We are having a little fun with one man in out Company. In the end they say he will get 6 months or more in the guard house. We are keeping our psatron sgt. and also have the new one. He is a damn nice gent. the pen just ran out of ink and while I was filling it. I forgot what I was going to write. We can have this week-end off but I guess. I will stay here and catch up on a few things washing, cleaning " " and " " the names of the
parts. We have to take our rifiles down at least twice a day and wipe out sand. We don't get a chance to fire them for at least 3 more weeks. I recieved your letter today says that you sent the padlock and smokes, I sure can use them, 6 packages a week will be kind of hard for me to get by with. The money order was timely and hit the spot as I had less than 5.00 left. After suppose we go to the PX and drink at least of Coca Cola and Ice Cream. Then to the movies then you buy your smokes and it takes more money than you should spend, but it is so
hot and not a damn thing to do or a place to even sit down unless they is 50 to 600 purple present. Not like Gorton Pond or any place that I liked to spend my spare time. I may add to this in the morning out just mail it.
All my love to you & Jackie
Phillip

Dear Nelli,
We went in o Augusta last night got ready to have about 6:00 P.M. and couldn't get to town until nearly 9:30. Had a hot Chicken Sandwich and had to leave for camp by 10:30 got in just before 12:00. It was more like getting ome when we got into camp. The city is just one big bunch of Soldiers and the people in town don't like to see them. Fed Asjley had the Ricke's Camp At present I can't think of a namce for the Baby. I am afraid that I shall have to leave that to you and mother. I might add later if I have a brain storm.
The cap I lepts was an extra just lay it up may need it later. If Jackie wants a doll for her birthday get her one. Last night in Augusta I looked for something but as you see I didn't have a minute. I don't care too much for an identification braclet but have just got to have a watch. that will seem will try to sent mone today. Have it repaired and keys for the time being. I want a cheep one or a good water proof one. Wrote to Nernetts at once. IF they have one harverst sent to me. Still cant think of a name. If Hallis wants the motor and boat do as you want to. I don't care. Find out how much you can get from Phis for the big motor
and boat, then we can have a new one when we get settled again. Lets get rid of all that kind of stuff and start in over when the prices are a little lower. If you do want Shaws cig write to the company
H.E. Shaw. Co
1813 Columbus Am
Springfield, Mass.
About the store refrigerators shut them off and find out how much you can get for them also the Coca Cola cooler. Recieved the money order O.K. it was timely. The packages hasn't come as yet. Have you sne tmy clother to the cleaners as yet. If not do so and packe the cooler and the suits
away. Before the moths gets in them. Well I think the question are all answered as I will throw away the letter as the fill up the locker and make it look messed uo and we catch hell. I think I will try and go to Aberton next week end.
All my love to you & Jackie
Phillip
