Dearest;
Well we had another tough day on the "battlefield" today. Colisthentics in the morning and plenty of drilling. I'm getting pretty well toughened in on the grinds now. My stiffness is leaving me and I can endure much longer "sprints" and more "push ups". This afternoons parade went on a little wet. Just as we were about to swing in, one of the tropical rainstorms hit. Boy did we get wet. We were all soaked to the skin. After parade we marched home and changed clothing and went right out to mess. After mess
we were restricted to our rooms as usual for the evening. The way we all feel it will be early to bed to-nite, about 9 PM. I found out that the hotel, we're staying in was owned by Steward. You know that Astrologer Drib and Sally were so crazy about in Atlantic city. He sold it to the Government for $500,000.00. It's called the Ivory hotel and villas. It consists of a group of very exclusive appartments, that is before the army "deglamourized" them, and a very exclusive hotel position. Its all built very low, about 4 stories high but it spreads out over about a complete block. Someday after the war is over, we'll spend another honeymoon down here in this appartment, where I'm writing from.
Darling, please send me Rumboughs and Highs and also Bitty's address will you. I'd like to write them a card or something when I get time. I bought a card for Marilyan and sent it airmail. This weekend when we get open post, I'm going to get her a little something to send along as another after the card. I recieved three letters today and, believe me darling, they really made me feel swell. The way I'm writing darling I hope you'll get a letter everyday. We just had a mail call, darling and I just recieved the letter written on the 2nd. Isn't that something about Bob Wheeler, It's really
thrills me to bear such news. Please try to get his address from Punky for me I'd like to write him. Darling your letters are wonderful and I certainly hope mine are O.K. too. Darling, please write and tell me all the personal stuff you want to. None of my mail are opened or censored in any way. By the way darling in your letter you say that Jean stayed with Runky; please tell me all about it; that sounds pretty good. We, (602) have just been called out and informed that we have to go out on guard duty, beginning 7:00 A.M Thursday and ending 36 hours later. We have two hours on and fours hours off. I expect I'll be able to write you a couple of letters during that time. Bye now, dearest. P.S. Write every day
All my love,
Herb
