March 13, 1943
Dearest Wife;
It is now 8:45 and we've just gotten back from KP. I don't feel as tired this time as I did the last time but I don't feel too sprung. I going to take a shower and go to bed soon as soon as I mailed my darling's letter.
I recieved the pictures today and am really proud of them. Darling you get sweater every day. I showed them to all the fellows and they think you really swell, I'm not kidding either, consider yourself complemented not flattered. I love you so much my darling. and miss you so much
I simply can't wait until we can be together again. I love so much to tell you and so much love stored up for you. By all means dearest don't expect to stay at tenties. I don't care if you're making $100 a weekend working as a private sod for F.D.R. you're still going to quit when I send that telegram darling. The main feature of the thing is that you will be able to get yourself some foldin money before you leave. I hope you like your job, dearest and maybe you'll go back to it if we can't possibily be together later. It certainly makes me feel good that they hired you like they did.
Darling you're really getting to be a good bowler,
It time bowling will develop your mummies (God bless them). But save some developing for me. The very thought of them makes me shiver inside.
This morning about 9:30 am, when we were scubbing the mess hall, who should walk in, and this is no baloney it almost knocked us over, but leiutenant Senior Echo Arnold, chief of the AirForces, Henry S Steinson, secretary of war, General Marshal chief of staff and of course Col. Kimberely. Of course there were others with them, a few other high officers and senators etc. They were inspecting the post.
No one knew about it, so it must of been a surprise visit. It was very interesting. Of course we all, popped to, and they walked about 4ft infront of me. Darling I've seen just about all the big brass hats in the M.S. I recieved my package yesterday and can't wait till I get it. Just think darling, I've been so busy that I havn't had a chance to get it at the post office yet and the post office is only two blocks away but sadly closed in the nite. I'll get it first thing tomorrow. Well darling, I guess I'll pull in now. Goodnite. I will dream of you and wonder what you are doing at this time, Saturday nite 9:15. I love you dearest
All my love and kisses
Herb
