Dear Sis + Carl :-
Recieved a letter from Mother to-day, so I thought it being a few days since I wrote you, would write to you. You can tell Mother that I recieved her letter O.K. I am still feeling fine and dandy. Today is what they call "Muster" day. It comes once a month always the last day of the month. They give every man the once over, see that all beds are kept
clean and that the men keep themselves clean. Also tomorrow is another day of inspection. They inspect all of the beds and such things every Saturday afternoon. How is everything at home? Mother said that you mailed me a book of stamps, but I never recieved them. Did you send them here of to the Barracks. If you sent them to the Barracks, maybe they will be forward to me later on. Did you recieve my letters saying to have Dad send me a ball and glove
don't forget to tell him if you havn't before this, because the majority of the fellows had this sent to them and they play ball evening after supper. We are having excellent weather here, the summer you have in Duberque. Suppose summer is on at home and all spring cleaning is done. I recieve quite a few letter from the sister and they are always good long ones. Suppose you wonder why I don't mention
things about the post here. Well we are not allowed to write anything about post or how it is supplied. How is Carl, suppose he is very busy and hard to crawl out on Sunday mornings. Tell him if he can get another carton of Camels from Softers if he can get them chips and have Dad pay him, because cigarettes are mighty fine when a fellow can;t get out to buy them ganuanteed in.
Well Sis I recieved a Dubique paper today and I feel mighty good to read it; also had a piece of home-made eats that are one of the boys here recieved from home. Better hustle Mother up and have her send me some cake or candy or something real good. Also recieved a nice letter from Anna Pier today. She certainly
can write a nice friendly letter. When I get a chance to go to town and have a pay day I am going to have my photo taken and send them home. Say Sis do you know if Mother or Dad recieved any insurance papers from the government, also did Dad recieve that Liberty Loan. money of mine from the Tel. Co. to go to the Model Clothing Store and pay that $5.00 that I owe him on that suit of mine. I don't
want them to have a bill standing against me. Well Sis you will have quite a time answering all these questions, so will close for this time. Please answer soon. Remain
Your Loving Brother
Lewis
