My Dear Mummy,
You will be pleased to hear that I did my first solo yesterday and followed it up with a couple of more. Then just came down from doing an hour now and am visiting this by the time office hence the reason for the pencil. It took quite a little while before I went solo by my instructor didn't hurry me and I made sure of what I know before I went up. It was a grand feeling, the first time up by myself, nobody to tell you what to do or correct you, the whole plane was ____ to do as you liked with. I have done about 3hrs solo now and about 16hrs dual, so am beginning to feel I know a little about flying through I have got a devil of a lot more to learn yet. I am going to try and come home next week and all things well. I shan't be able to come by car˙
of course, it will have to be by train and will, I fear take a devil of time. I don't arrive till about 4 a.m. Saturday morning. We get out half term exams some time this week so am pretty busy swatting up what I have doe so far which is quite a bit. Am just going to get some lunch and the we fly all afternoon. Well have had lunch and am just down after doing another hours solo. I am going to do a bit more dual a little later in the afternoon. I'm afraid you won't get this letter till Tuesday as there is no spot here on Sunday and I shan't be able to get to the P.O. It is absolutely wonderful weather here I only hope it stop like it. It is frightfully hot sitting about on the aeroplane but heavenly in the air. Siddal and I had dinner again with our instructor on Friday night and not a very amusing army officier who was doing security police duties, which proved to be very interesting!
Went ito Hall on Saturday and saw "On the Night of the Fire" with Diana Wynard and Raphl Richardson, Very good acting but very morbid. Well I must close now, have got some more letters to write and some work to do.
Please give my love to Grandma
All my love
Teddie
